LOG'S initiates a partnership with Coup de Pousses, a company specializing in the collaborative planting of mini-forests.
This partnership will begin at the end of the year with the planting of an initial mini-forest at our Anzin site, near Valenciennes, and will then be rolled out to other Log'S logistics sites. This project is in line with Log'S' CSR ambitions, and should make it possible to sequester 6.5t of CO2 per year, starting in 2024. In addition to its significant ecological impact, this project is also an opportunity to raise employees' awareness of environmental issues and to involve them fully in the co-creation of this space, which they will be able to enjoy over the long term.
1,000 trees planted
Symbolizing Log'S' commitment to greening all its sites and offsetting its CO2 emissions, Coup de Pousses will take place at the company's historic Anzin site in early December, after the busy Black Friday period. It's an opportunity for employees to come together around a meaningful collaborative project, while enjoying an enriching experience that fosters team cohesion.
And no fewer than 1,000 trees will be planted on the site to form a veritable biodiversity refuge. The mini-forest will be surrounded by a nurturing zone of around ten fruit species, selected by employees. After training by professionals from Coup de Pousses, site employees will be responsible for planting the trees.
A planting method for biodiversity and people
The mini-forest will be planted using the Miyawaki method. This Japanese technique involves loosening and enriching the soil with natural soil improvers, selecting a wide variety of local tree species (25 to 35) and planting densely (3 trees per square meter). The result is a biodiversity zone that is particularly resistant to the vagaries of the climate. The new area will provide food for insects, birds and small mammals, and a cool, relaxing place for site employees.
The aim is then to roll out the project to other company sites. Creating a biodiversity refuge for each warehouse, which would enable an estimated saving of up to 500 tonnes of CO2 by 2030, not forgetting the awareness and contribution of the company's employees.
"Everyone has a responsibility and can do something about climate change and water scarcity. The logistics sector can contribute, and Log's is committed. The Coup de Pousses initiative appealed to us because it bears all the hallmarks of success: commitment to the future generation, co-creation, simple implementation in the service of biodiversity, mobilization of employees and preservation of water resources".Dominique Chastagnol, Real Estate Director at Log'S
Coup de Pousses, a company committed to helping the planet
Coup de Pousses was founded in June 2021 by Victor Guilbert, a 24-year-old student with a passion for biodiversity and entrepreneurship. The company's mission is to encourage local authorities and businesses to plant mini-forests in order to provide refuges for biodiversity, capture CO2 and sustainably improve our living environment. Awareness-raising actions are at the heart of the project, because we know that the sum of individual actions will have an even greater impact than the planting itself.
Coup de Pousses' commitments :
- Working with local suppliers and certified plants.
- Offer participants an exciting experience.
- Invest 5% of sales in the Time for the planet project.
"It's a real pleasure to begin this partnership with Log's. By creating Coup de pousses, I wanted to show that the ecological transition was not synonymous with gloom. Today, we're happily co-constructing this project, and we're all proud to be planting trees together. I have no doubt that this is going to be an extraordinary moment. Of course, there's still a long way to go towards a sustainable world, but thanks to Log's commitment, we're starting to act on our own scale."Victor Guilbert, Founder of Coup de Pousses
